Cobra 1984 Diagnostic Plug

This is the plugpal Cobra 1984 diagnostic plug for immobilisers used in the Series 1 Lotus Elise, Exige.  It was also used in other Lotus models including the early Series 2 K Series using the Meta system. Please check your vehicle is compatible, this immobiliser system was also used in many other vehicles.

The  Cobra 1984 diagnostic plug does not bypass the alarm itself, just the immobiliser, so the alarm will continue to work as normal allowing you to diagnose if the immobiliser is causing you an issue.  This could be things such as parasitic battery drain or if the immobiliser is becoming erratic with age.

On the Series 1 Elise or Exige, the immobiliser is located at the rear left hand side of the engine bay under a
plastic cover on the mounting plate for the ECU.  You merely need to disconnect the immobiliser and insert the plug into the vehicle loom.  The module is located behind the passenger side speaker panel on the Series 2 cars.

As with all plugpal products, this diagnostic plug is assembled using quality components, the connections being crimped, not soldered.   This is due to the risk of stress fracturing of connections in environments with large amounts of vibration, such as automotive applications and waterproofed using adhesive impregnated heatshrink.
